Show Report Isis Dressage Summer Festival Show

Results Sunday 13th June

With 93 entries received for our Summer Show, SallyAnne and I knew this was certain to be a busy day and we both felt punch-drunk at 6.30pm as we left to drive home! However, despite a few minor glitches we very much hope that everyone enjoyed the day. Grateful thanks to Jack and Debbie Beasant for the use of the facilities and to Sophie who did a marvellous job keeping everyone fed all day.

We saw a huge variation of horses/ponies and tests throughout the day, and in the first class Diane Cruickshank’s striking coloured horse, Pepper, caught everyone’s eye, and was placed second with a score of 72%, to Sheena Grierson on Ghostly Promise on 72.5%. Diane and Pepper continued their success by winning the restricted section of Class 2, Prelim 15 on a score of 73.91%. Junior member Clare Newstead and her talented and elegant new mare, Nibeley White Diamond, had a very successful day winning both Novice 24 and the combined Novice/Elementary class.

Tiggi Bentley brought the fabulous Beltyne Wilfred Owen to Gainfield for his first outing in several months to win two classes, Class 6, doing the advanced medium test, and the outdoor Music Class. Ginny Halliwell and A Golden Promise performed a lovely flowing novice freestyle test to take second place. It was lovely to see our previous chairwoman, Jane McWilliam, competing on her first outing with the stunning Veloseti, who was placed second in Class 6 on a score of 65.88%.

We had hoped to be able to do a mounted prize-giving but the logistics of this proved near impossible with the amount of entries.

Grateful thanks go to our judges; Maggie Copus, Mrs Willis, Helen Clark and Carol Hogg, who replaced Simon Laurens at very short notice, and also to the writers; Jill Smith, Dorothy Maundrell, Hala Bentley, Helen Bodmer and Sue Whiting. We are grateful also to Jane Higgins, Colin Smith who scored for us in the morning, and Sarah Waring who very efficiently stewarded the warm up arena for part of the day despite feeling unwell.

Lastly, thank you SallyAnne for making the coveted Isis sashes and also to Anne Luce, Sarah Waring, White Horse Feeds, Wicks Saddlers, Beltyne Music for Freestyle, SallyAnne, Gina Hocking and Asti Saddlery for kindly donating the prizes.
